“Smitty” Harris just laughed at Vietnam missiles.

Good morning, everybody.

So the wife told me this morning she’d like to see me in a suit and/or tie on occasion. Ain’t happening. And as we ponder how neckties represent the noose of conformity, let’s review the top Daily Journal stories on this Tuesday.

Vietnam memorial – Ground was broken – symbolically, since the ceremony was held indoors due to rain – on a Vietnam memorial to be erected in Veterans Park. I wanna hang out with this “Smitty” Harris fella. Money quote, on getting shot down over ‘Nam: “I wasn’t shot down, I didn’t like that missile so I just ran it over.” Smitty craps bigger than you.

Rainbows and unicorns – Hey, two state lawmakers from different parties agreed on something. Kumbaya, etc.

More shenanigans – Two more basketball officials have come forward to say that the MHSAA has encouraged them to make sure star players don’t foul out in big games. (I linked to the blog entry on this last night; this is the full story.) Is there anything in this state that isn’t crooked?

New organs – A Tupelo woman is just the second person in Mississippi to undergo a kidney-pancreas transplant, at UMMC. It’s a procedure that, if the body responds to it well, can greatly increase quality of life for those with Type 1 diabetes. So let’s end this entry on that positive note, shall we?
