Daily Lead 3.7.14: Anything is possible, maybe
Hello there. As we ponder Andre 3000 playing the role of Jimi Hendrix, let’s take a glance at the top stories from your Friday Journal.
• Tupelo: ‘Center of Positivity’ – More details on the new theme unveiled by the city yesterday. It’s not a motto, but one possible motto mentioned was, “Anything is possible.” Tupelo paid a creative agency in Tulsa $75,000 to come up with all of this, which makes me think I need to get into the creative consultant business, because I can think up tired clichés, too.
• Rebels trending toward irrelevant – Parrish Alford‘s latest column looks at the sliding Ole Miss basketball team, which has seen its NCAA tournament hopes die a swift death. The NIT ain’t why Marshall Henderson came back, but hey, he could be playing in Turkey right now. Perspective.
• Justice overhaul closer to law – Nothing says fun like the state’s prison budget. Lawmakers are trying to streamline it while saving money. And, hopefully, serving up better justice.
